Dawn Threats - Part VIII

October, 2020

With the window wide open, with the curtains waving gently, Laura woke up shivering with cold.
She got up, grabbing a robe and catching her hair in a pony tail.
Walking towards the kitchen, she noticed a delicious scent in the air, and that the couch was already empty.
Stretching and yawning, she got in the kitchen with breakfast already on the table.

"It looks delicious!" she greeted him.
"Don't have to thank me, it's the least I can do, as long as you let me be in here."
"No problem." she nodded.

They sat on the both extrems of the table, nomming silently.
Washing the dishes, he began "I received a report from my partner. And it's my job to let you know that..." he hesitated, with such an innocent look on the traces of her face, "... that, your husband might be like that for the rest of the eternity.". The faith in her eyes suddenly vanished, and they became glassy and empty.
Embracing her husband, snuggling up to him, she started swinging back and forwards on the chair-shaped half-moon and began to read his favourite book:
"Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us his greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the First Kronus Regiment, and today is our Victory Day."

While Ted lie down on the couch, reading some profiles and making some calls to keep updated; Seth (the lil ferret) climbed up to the chair-shaped half-moon and licked her cheek, as if he was telling that everything is going to be just fine and back to normal right way. In his paw was her necklace and a tiny book.
She put the necklace on and began to analyse the pages "This is it!" she gasped and stared back at Seth "Let's give it a change."
Seth turned his head backwards at Ted's direction and then back at her "Indeed, we're going to need his help." she confirmed.
"Teddy Bear???" she called
